This proverb means it is more beneficial to have experience do things in life than to merely read about them. When we experience things, it gives us more knowledge about things than reading about it. We gain our own perspective on subjects when we’ve experienced it for ourselves. We can all agree physically climbing a mountain is a lot different than reading about it!
